ROUND TRIP BY MINIVAN
DAY 01: HO CHI MINH CITY ARRIVAL (Dinner)
Arrive at Tan Son Nhat international airport, you are welcomed by our tour guide then transfer to hotel for check in. In the afternoon, you are going to visit The War Remnants Museum which has a wealth of images from the wars, the most moving being a gallery entitled 'Requiem' which is dedicated to Vietnamese and foreign journalists and photographers who perished during the French and American conflicts. The next destination is Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral that was built between 1877 and 1880 by French colonists, and the stones used to create it were exported in its entirety from France. It is one of the most famous landmarks in Ho Chi Minh City, thanks to its special architecture, rich spirituality and oozing history. The impressive red bricks of the cathedral make it outstanding in the modern city that has been rapidly growing up. It was built by French colonists; thus, all the materials and decorations were imported from France. The final destination will be The Central Post Office which was built in 1886 and completed in 1891. It is another fine example of French architecture and is the largest post office in Vietnam. Enjoy dinner at local restaurant and stay overnight at hotel.
DAY 02: HO CHI MINH CITY - CU CHI - VUNG TAU (Breakfast, lunch & dinner)
Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, your first destination is Cu Chi Tunnels which were built in 1948 and completed in 1968. The Viet Minh built the first dugouts and tunnels in the hard, red earth of Cu Chi (ideal for their construction) during the war against the French. The excavations were used mostly for communication between villages and to evade French army sweeps of the area. When the VC’s National Liberation Front (NLF) insurgency began in earnest around 1960, the old Viet Minh tunnels were repaired and new extensions were excavated. Within a few years the tunnel system assumed enormous strategic importance, and most of Cu Chi district and the nearby area came under firm VC control. The stunning attacks in the South Vietnamese capital during the 1968 Tet Offensive were planned and launched from Cu Chi. In early 1963 the Diem government implemented the botched Strategic Hamlets Program, under which fortified encampments, surrounded by many rows of sharp bamboo spikes, were built to house people who had been ‘relocated’ from communist-controlled areas. The VC were able to tunnel into the hamlets and control them from within. The site has over 120 km of underground tunnels, with trapdoors, living areas, kitchens, storage facilities, armoury, hospitals, and command centres. The tunnels served not only as living quarters, but as supply routes and hospitals for thousands of guerilla fighters. Many died there from malaria and other diseases, and a few were also born or married. After lunch at local restaurant, you will head over to Vung Tau Beach and visit the spectacular Jesus Statue built in 1972. This statue is standing on Nui Nho (Small Mount) with 32 meters high and 18.3 meters long arms. Climbing nearly 900 steps to the top, you will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Vung Tau city. After lunch at local restaurant, the final destination of the tour is Whale Temple, which is dedicated to the remains of a whale washed up on the Vung Tau beach over 100 years ago. Spend you free time for swimming on the beach. Dinner will be served at local restaurant and stay overnight at hotel.
DAY 03: VUNG TAU - HO CHI MINH CITY (Breakfast, lunch & dinner)
Breakfast at the hotel. The first stop in your itinerary will be Niet Ban Tinh Xa (Nirvana Pagoda). Nirvana Pagoda or Lying Buddha Pagoda (12 m Buddha made of marble) was built in 1969 and is one of the biggest pagodas in the city. The next place is the White Palace or Villa Blanche which was used as the summer palace of the last Emperor of Vietnam, Bao Dai. Delicious lunch will be served at local restaurant before driving back to Ho Chi Minh city. Upon arrival, visit Ben Thanh Market, one of the most famous markets in Vietnam. Enjoy dinner at local restaurant and stay overnight at hotel.
DAY 04: HO CHI MINH CITY - MY THO - HO CHI MINH CITY (Breakfast, lunch & dinner)
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to My Tho city in the Mekong Delta and embark on a cruise on the Tien river. En route, visit My Tho fish raising village and admire the scenery of Dragon and Unicorn Islands. You will have a chance to visit Candy making village, taste some kinds of fresh fruits and enjoy Vietnamese traditional music. Then take a horse cart to visit the bee-raising farm and sip your hot tea, etc…. Take a canoe (hand rowing boat) through a small canal to the big boat. Lunch will be served at the Mekong restaurant. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh city. Enjoy dinner on river cruise restaurant with traditional music show and stay overnight at hotel.
